Past Trainings

I believe in providing evidence based information about a variety of topics. Below are some of the trainings/community events I have participated in.

  • Relationship Challenges for Individuals with IDD, Autism, ADHD, and Other Challenges – Learn Why, What and How to Support Your Teenager
    • Being able to set and maintain boundaries helps us have healthy and safe relationships and it prevents abuse and exploitation. Learning to set boundaries is a necessary skill for anyone, but especially for neurodivergent individuals. If you have a teenager with unique learning needs, you will enjoy this presentation by Behavior Analyst Tricia Lund from Summit Behavior Consulting.  Tricia will cover why it is difficult for neurodivergent individuals to set boundaries, what skills need to be specifically taught, and how parents/caregivers can support their child as they learn to have healthy relationships through boundary setting.
    • Recording available at this website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbqSdkNiLLg
  • Raising Awesome Awareness. Teaching Consent to Neurodivergent Individuals
    • Tricia Lund, a BCBA and Certified Sexuality Educator talks with parents what consent is, the components involved in being able to give or not give consent, barriers that people with disabilities face when learning to give or not give consent, how to model consent and specific lesson plans that can address consent for high support and low support needs individuals.
  • Your Neurodivergent Teen and Social Media Safety (August 2023), “The Benefits of Online Relationships and How to Make Them Safer”.

This event was not recorded, but PPT slides are available upon request.
  • Love and Disabilities Community Training Series: “Preventing Abuse and Teaching Your Child to Self-Advocate”

Tricia Lund, BCBA taught risk factors around abuse, why sexuality education was a protective factor, what specifically needed to be taught to neurodivergent (and neurotypical) individuals. Lastly, participants learned the dangers of use “Good Touch, Bad Touch” when teaching individuals to report abuse and how to teach “Wanted, Unwanted and Confusing Touch” instead. This event was not recorded, but PPT slides are available on request.
